Scavenger Hunt
A few weeks ago we went to our church's Family Camp a few hours from home. We had a really nice time hanging out with our immediate family and our church family. We had a very nice "cabin" and it was great being out in the woods. We went on a few scavenger hunts with Mesa. Mylie and Mesa both loved the zip line for the kids. It was pretty high, but Mylie was the brave one and went down a couple of times before Mesa decided it looked like fun. I was impressed with their bravery to jump off of the platform and fly through the sky on the cable. They had a BLAST! While we were up there we entered "The Amazing Race." Our pastor's wife and her sister are ALWAYS so creative. Everything that they are in charge of is very elaborate down to the last detail and extremely fun. So you can imagine how exciting "The Amazing Race" was with the two of them in charge! We had our good friends Jim and Pam on our team of 4, plus Mesa and Mylie got to tag along. More like they were toted along. In the first heat, we had to start in third place from an activity the night before. We drove all over the nearby town looking for clues, finding letterbox stations, a marshmallow eating contest, and even doing a small hill hike. We prevailed and were in 1st place at the end of the heat. In the second heat a couple of hours later, we had to go on a three mile round trip walk to find clues and letterboxes. We walked as fast as our legs would carry us and ran as much as we possibly could because our competitors were right on our trail. Mylie was packed the whole way and Mesa walked with us for at least half, then was packed...we were going pretty fast for her little legs. The walking wore us out but one in one of the last clues there was money to go and eat ice cream at the local restaurant. I've never eaten bubble gum ice cream so fast in my life...remember it was still a race! Good thing Mesa and Mylie helped me out! We were still in first place at the end of the second heat. Yeah! The last leg of the Amazing Race we stuck around camp and did some crazy activities. The last thing we had to do was MAKE and BAKE an apple pie. It was funny watching the four of us peel, slice, and make an apple pie in record speed. We ended up getting second place~by just a couple of minutes. It was an exhausting day, but completely fun! Jim and Pam were the best partners ever! We had a great weekend.
