Third day after the horse accident...
On Friday the 18th, Matt was leading a 3 year old horse through the pen. It jerked him and threw him into a panel (we think). We also think he was knocked out for a few minutes because he couldn't remember anything that happened or what horse he was working with. (With my fine detective work I figured out it was the horse that had the lead rope on and was out of the pen eating all of the hay.) I drove him to Ontario because I just assumed he needed stitches. He didn't have a black eye or anything at that point and was walking around. They did 3 CAT scans on him and found out he needed more than stitches...so they sent him in an ambulance to St. Al's in Boise. Pastor Chuck was actually in the area and beat me to the hospital! By this point in the day Matt looked pretty bad! We spent the night in the hospital so they could watch him. He had 7 stitches in his lip, small hemorrhaging in his brain, and about 6 fractures in his skull (3 near his eye and 2 near his pallet in his mouth and one on his pallet). His teeth are loose and he has to eat soft things for 2 months. His eye was very bloody from the fractures near his eye but it didn't affect his vision. His black eye has been fading away slowly. He also hurt his hip...it is the longest bruise I have ever seen. He limped for a week or so and is now putting some pressure on it and walking around fairly well (however, not running yet!) He's heeling up very well and we are so thankful that he was not hurt as bad as it could have been. The Lord was really watching out and protecting him that day! He's also been quickly healing him over the past few days. We've been very thankful for all of the love and concern people have shown over the last week and a half! We appreciate you all.

Kelsey,
I am glad to hear that Matt is feeling better. I really like his mug shot. I can just hear you now, "Don't move, this is going to look cool on my blog." I was happy to get the chance to see you both last week, and I hope for a speedy recovery for Matt and you. I bet that it has been pretty hard to get him to take it easy.
Feel better,
Steve

Wow! I'm so glad that Matt is okay and there was no really serious damage. Although, there could be some mental issues later, oh wait this is Matt were talking about! :-) Just kidding. We've been praying for you, but Ryan has been praying the most! Hope life gets back to normal soon, we love you guys.
Thank you guys for your thoughtful comments and for your thoughts. Your kiddos are sweet to think of Matt. It was great to see you too Steve. It was a most memorable anniversary for us...dinner at the mall at Orange Julius and Blimpies with my brother-in-law. HA! No it truly was great to see you and meet your volleyball team.
Matt just looks cool. I'm sure the cowgirl at the Mustang Challenge would still bid on him!!!
Now seriously, I am relieved to see his healing progress everyday...!!!
Boy I bet that was a SCARY time for you! I am glad that all appears to be well now!
